2022 End of Year Review
As we come to the end of another extraordinary year - who would have thought that after the lockdown years of Covid we would see the global impacts brought on by Mr Putin’s invasion of the Ukraine in February so starkly impact the West….
Against this backdrop of manifest global change I’m pleased to say that the Forum has kept calm and carried on providing what we have always aspired to do, namely host a timely and interesting range of events throughout the last year, culminating in yet another sell out Annual Dinner which in my humble opinion, was our best to date. The two guest speakers approach I thought worked extremely well and the excellent speeches, from Claire Spencer and Shravan Joshi respectively, illustrated to me perfectly the scope and continuing significance of our Forum.
The guided tour of 21 Moorfields with WilkinsonEyre and Robert Bird Group gave us the real, behind the scenes / 'under the hood' story of a major piece of innovative architecture and engineering working in true harmony - again the essence of what we are all about.
Finally, we were also able to utilise the new facility at Temple Bar and our association with the Worshipful Company of Architects and the Temple Bar Trust, to host what I hope will be the first of many events in a truly exceptional venue, when we heard from Chris Hayward, the new Chair of Policy and Resources at the City Corporation, and a long time supporter of CAF, with his vision for the post-Covid City of London.
May I thank you all for your continued support of the Forum, and particularly those of you whether on the Committee or otherwise, who have helped throughout the year to curate our calendar of events and generally keep the show on the road.
2023 is already looking to be very interesting and we are well underway with building a fascinating programme of events for you. Whilst these challenging times of Government changes and the growing number of disruptive strikes does not feel the most joyous of periods - I would like to wish you and your nearest and dearest all the best for the Festive Season and may 2023 be better for us all.
